Happy New Year

So, New Year’s Eve is finally here. The last day of the year. A day to look back and reflect on the past whilst looking forward to the future. When I think of 2010, I will think of: Faithless singing We Come One at Glastonbury; a trip to Cork with the girls; Mad Men; a bottle of Pinot Grigio at Bar Italia in Dublin; getting a promotion; snow; 40th birthday celebrations - drinking Veuve Clicquot, cocktails at Malmaison, dinner at The Oven; Dexter; great music – Band of Horses, John Grant, Kings of Leon, Broken Bells, Richard Hawley, Plan B, The Bees, Doves, to name but a few; Many of Horror in the car on the way back from Glastonbury; walking in the Yorkshire Moors; great films - Un Prophet, Inception, Precious; 6 Music being saved from closure; buying my first car; getting lost whilst walking in Upper Teesdale; smoked kippers at Craster; Embleton beach in Northumberland; my first trip to South America; climbing to the top of Dead Woman's Pass in the Andes; looking down at Machu Picchu; pisco sours in Cusco, Peru; Ray Davies and his choir singing Waterloo Sunset at Glastonbury bringing tears to my eyes; Stieg Larsson books; the new BBC version of Sherlock; afternoon drinks round the ‘Toon with the girls; climbing Roseberry Topping with a hangover the next day; Lee Mack at Newcastle City Hall; spending a lot of time on trains. I’m not sure what 2011 will bring, but if it’s anything like 2010 it will be a great year. Here’s to another year of adventures and new experiences, whatever they may be. Happy New Year!
